Ultra Precision Technology

The technological world at the micron (1 µm = 1/1,000 mm) and nanometer (1 nm = 1/1,000,000 mm) levels is imperceptible to the human eye.

The focus at these levels is on achieving advances in mechanical elements and in processing to maximize precision. Canon has been wholly involved in ultraprecision technologies applied in the lens and mirrors of cameras and business machines, automatic focusing mechanisms for cameras, ink jet nozzles for Bubble Jet print heads, large-scale integration of semiconductors, and numerous other domains.

Set on achieving the ultimate in precision, we will continue research and development in the area of ultraprecision technologies, which are becoming indispensable to our society.
