Canon’s ultra low resource speech recognition technology UCanTalk ™ is ideal for products with low processing power and where the memory available to embed a voice control system is limited.
It has been used in Canon products since 1998, specifically for voice dialing on home fax machines, and voice-activated command and control on handy terminal devices.

In 2002,continuous digit recognition was added as a feature and the technology has recently been enhanced with a new low resource speaker independent, phonetic-based recognition engine that it is planned to make available to third parties in 2003.
