Mankind’s drain on our planet’s natural resources is at its highest level in history, with our wildlife bearing the disastrous consequences. Recent studies show that nearly 1,500 species have already been adversely affected since 1970, one of which is the polar bear.

The threat to the Polar Bear
With arctic ice caps melting from greenhouse gas emissions, climate change is one of the major threats facing polar bears today. Hunting, breeding and nurturing their young are now daily struggles for the bears.
We believe that educating young people on the plight of these animals, which live in one of the most fragile and beautiful regions on the planet, is the key to reducing our harmful impact on the environment.
The Canon Kids' Zone is a website created with WWF in 13 European languages to help teach 7 to 11 year olds across Europe how to act in a more environmentally friendly way.
Interactive games, educational packs and more
Updated last year, the website has eight new interactive games which teach children in a fun and engaging way about the bears’ habitat and what they can do to help them survive. The games reward children for completing tasks and encourage them to return to learn more about this fascinating species.
Downloadable educational packs for school teachers contain printable worksheets, lesson plans and fact sheets on how saving power at home and becoming more energy efficient can ultimately help save the polar bear from extinction.
The site and all learning materials has been created to help build a community of interest with students and schools across Europe to help raise awareness of this important issue.
