Canon and the Red Cross

In keeping with our corporate Japanese philosophy of kyosei – ‘living and working together for the common good’, Canon is a long standing supporter of the Red Cross, helping in its work with young people across Europe.

In 2006 we strengthened our sponsorship with the organisation and now provide support to thirteen Red Cross National Societies across Europe, with a particular focus on new and existing Red Cross youth projects that support and educate young people to deal with the issues they face in today's society.

Support from Canon includes financial contributions and donations of imaging equipment; including cameras, copying machines and digital radiography devices, as well as volunteer activities.

Canon Sponsorships and the Red Cross
We endeavor to link our European sponsorships to our partnership with the Red Cross. For example, the 2007 ‘We Speak Image’ fashion project for our European Fashion Weeks sponsorship, and the ‘Canon Fan Foto’ competition for our UEFA EURO 2008TM football sponsorship, both assist in donations to the Red Cross.

These and other activities help support a number of youth projects by the Red Cross, such as holiday camps for disadvantaged children in the Netherlands and emergency shelters in Finland. Other schemes include young refugees in Austria being enrolled in mentoring projects which aim to help them adapt to life in a new country.
