Canon launches its first Mid-Volume Production Scanner

AMSTELVEEN, 20 February, 2008 – Canon Europe, leader in digital imaging technology, has today announced the launch of its first ever Mid-Volume Production Scanner – the imageFORMULA DR X10C.

  • New flagship scanner to enable colour portrait scanning of up to 100 pages and 200 images per minute

  • Canon’s new imageFORMULA DR X10C supports Canon’s commitment and investment in the High-Speed Document Scanner Market

Aimed at corporates, large business units and scanning bureaus, the imageFORMULA DR X10C is Canon’s new flagship model for its comprehensive imageFORMULA scanner portfolio. The new imageFORMULA DR X10C combines high-speed colour scanning, reliable innovative document feeding, and superior image quality to bring high speed production scanning to the Mid-Volume segment.

Canon is driving innovation in the Mid-Volume segment with the imageFORMULA DR X10C delivering enhanced ease of use, quality and reliability with a number of industry-first technology features. The new device offers auto-detection of paper size and skew angle through a dedicated hardware image sensor, and an automatic feeder retry function whenever a double feed is detected. The Active Separation Torque Control enables a wide range of media – including very thin, delicate documents – to be reliably separated and processed. The imageFORMULA DR-X10C also offers “dust-free scanning” with dedicated wiper brushes inside the scanner that clean the imaging glass before every document scanned, delivering consistently high-quality images.

As Canon’s new flagship model, the imageFORMULA DR X10C is packed with image processing features such as auto-colour detection, text orientation recognition, and advanced text enhancement. It is also bundled with Canon’s user-friendly and powerful Capture Perfect.

The high-performance imageFORMULA DR X10C is capable of colour scanning speeds of up to 100 pages and 200 images per minute at both 200 and 300 dpi in portrait orientation (or 128ppm/256ipm in landscape). Like all Canon products, the imageFORMULA DR X10C is designed with the highest levels of durability, supporting up to 60,000 scans per day.

Sean Suematsu, European New Business Solutions Marketing Director, DIMS, Canon Europe says: “The need to electronically capture and share hardcopy information has become an essential business function. The introduction of Canon's new flagship imageFORMULA DR scanner is a significant move, offering high-speed and high-performance scanning for corporates and large business units in a number of vertical industries including the financial, government, education and legal sectors.”

Canon has been no.1 by market share in the European high speed market for the Low Volume Production segment since 2005, according to InfoSource  . Sean Suematsu continues, “The imageFORMULA DR X10C builds on Canon’s rich heritage in the broader scanning market. This move represents Canon’s first step into the Mid-Volume Production sector and comes quick on the heels of the January launch of Canon’s new high-performance workgroup scanners, the imageFORMULA DR-2010C and the imageFORMULA DR-2510C. The launch of the imageFORMULA DR X10C will spearhead Canon’s drive to increase its presence in all segments of the high-speed document scanning market.”

Canon’s imageFORMULA DR X10C will be available across Europe from 3rd March 2008.
