AMSTELVEEN, 2nd January, 2008 – Canon Europe, leader in digital imaging technology, has today launched the imageFORMULA DR-2010C and the imageFORMULA DR-2510C, offering high-performance scanning to the small workgroup environment.

· New high-speed devices provide reliable high-resolution colour scanning
· imageFORMULA DR-2010C /  DR-2510C scan up to 20 and 25 pages per minute respectively
· New document scanners are first devices to carry Canon’s new imageFORMULA brand

The devices are designed for the de-centralised scanning of business-critical documents in the small office workgroup environment. They are recommended for high-volume scanning environments of up to 1,500 pages a day and for ad-hoc scanning tasks such as scan-to-email and scan-to-desktop.

The imageFORMULA DR-2510C scans at 25 pages per minute or 50 images per minute in duplex, while the imageFORMULA DR-2010C scans at 20 pages per minute or 40 images per minute in duplex. The new devices also feature an improved CIS Sensor that enables the devices to scan at the same speed in black-and-white, greyscale, or colour.

Innovative design means that the devices are one of the smallest in their class , saving space in a busy office environment. The imageFORMULA DR-2010C and the imageFORMULA DR-2510C are also energy efficient, automatically switching on and off with the host PC, ensuring the scanners are never left on unnecessarily.

The devices offer market-leading functionality by enabling users to program specific scanning rules for particular jobs. New JOB Buttons allow scanning tasks to be accomplished in less time and with greater efficiency as users can scan directly to a location, in a specified format, colour and resolution at the touch of a button.

Both devices offer enhanced document handling through a new slant paper path design, enabling the reliable processing of a wide range of document sizes and thicknesses, including business cards, embossed card and A3 documents in folio mode. The imageFORMULA DR-2510C also offers further feed reliability through Ultrasonic Double Feed Detection - eliminating the risk of data loss by ensuring the accurate detection of double feeds.

The new devices offer high-end image processing features including Auto-Colour Detection, Text Orientation Recognition, Advanced Text Enhancement (I&II), Skip Blank Page and Moiré Reduction ensuring high quality image scanning and productivity.

The imageFORMULA DR-2010C and imageFORMULA DR-2510C scanners will be shipped with Canon’s Capture Perfect 3.0 as well as a comprehensive third party software package  providing out-of-the-box functionality for common office tasks such as PDF creation, document filing , OCR  and business card filing.
