Canon’s New Software Suite for Print Management and Print Production

  • Helix Production Workflow suite builds on the success of NT-ware’s uniFLOW Output Manager (OM)

  • Will provide extended feature set and enhanced graphical user interface

  • Designed specifically for CRDs, Print-for-Pay, creative services and commercial print customers

BRUSSELS, March 19, 2008 – Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, today announced a new software suite for print management and production - Helix Production Workflow. At drupa, print consumers and providers will witness the benefits of this new software developed by NT-ware, which will be distributed exclusively by Canon.

Building on the success of NT-ware’s uniFLOW Output Manager (OM) suite in corporate and copy shop environments, the Helix Production Workflow suite will provide an extended feature set and enhanced graphical user interface, designed specifically for CRDs, Print-for-Pay, creative services and commercial print customers.

A key focus of the new software is to help print providers automate and streamline the print production process, from job ticketing and web submission by clients, to final printed output on single or multiple devices.  The complete PDF-based workflow and graphical user interface, will be fully and easily configurable by print providers, allowing for maximum flexibility and convenience.

Integration with leading variable data programmes already in Canon’s portfolio will enable print providers to cost effectively add highly profitable personalised print services and products to their own, while also supporting intelligent load balancing and colour splitting capabilities across the entire Canon range of print engines.

Helix Production Workflow’s 100% compatibility with uniFLOW OM will enable delivery of customer reporting, cost allocation and cost recovery features if required.  The software will also be fully JDF-compliant to CIP4 standards, offering potential integration with many other software systems, including CRM, ERP and MIS applications.

“We are very excited by the announcement of Helix Production Workflow suite, as Canon and NT-ware have worked very closely to ensure that this software meets the exact needs of our production print customers. It has been developed from the ‘ground up’ by NT-ware (a Canon company), based on feedback from our customers and sales organisations across Europe, with the aim to provide a powerful and flexible workflow management system, which is still affordable and easy to use for our Professional Print customers”, said Antony White, European Marketing Product Manager, Canon Europe.

He continues: “As further evidence of our commitment to deliver complete, integrated production print solutions to our customers, we expect Helix Production Workflow to complement and support the other solutions in Canon’s Workflow Program.”

Helix Production Workflow is expected to be commercially available in Europe exclusively from Canon Business Solutions and authorised dealers, later this year, and will be shown on the Canon Stand in Hall 8a, stand B46 at drupa 2008.
