AMSTELVEEN, April 14th, 2008 – Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, has today launched four new colour multifunctional printers (MFPs), the iR C3080/iR C3080i and the iR C3580/iR C3580i for small-to-medium sized businesses and corporate workgroups that are looking to make the move into pure colour printing. The iR C3080i will replace Canon’s highest selling MFP of 2007 - the iR C2880i, which sold over 29,000 units across Western Europe - and will build on the success of its predecessor to further strengthen Canon’s colour portfolio. The new devices use Canon’s industry-leading four-drum technology to produce fast, high-quality, reliable colour printing. The iR C3580/iR C3580i prints in colour at up to 30 pages per minute (ppm) and up to 35ppm in black-and-white, while the iR C3080/iR C3080i prints in colour at up to 28ppm and 30ppm in black and white. The new devices have optional wireless LAN allowing them to be placed anywhere in the office. The iR C3080i and iR C3580i are network-ready and the iR C3080 and iR C3580 have an optional EFI controller, for faster network processing. Enhanced security features such as data encryption, hard disk erase and password protection ensure the security of sensitive documents when printing in a busy office and via a network. Independent research house, Infosource, confirmed that Canon retained its number one position in the overall market 2007. Canon also maintained its lead in the colour plus colour capable segment with a 23 per cent growth in sales from 2006. The competitively priced iR C3080/iR C3080i and iR C3580/iR C3580i are set to help grow Canon’s 16.7 per cent share of the colour market. Paul Rowntree, European Marketing Manager, Canon Europe, said: “Canon recognises the need to bring cost-effective and reliable colour printing to the small-to-medium sized business market. The launch of the new devices is significant as they strengthen Canon’s offerings for the colour print market. They will build on the success of its market-leading predecessor, highlighting Canon’s commitment to maintaining its number one position in the colour and overall print markets.”
