Under an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) relationship, Canon will embed eCopy ShareScan software on Canon’s ImageFORMULA ScanFront colour network scanner. Building on the long-standing business partnership between the two companies, this agreement allows both organisations to adopt a universal software platform for document imaging across scanners and multifunctional printers (MFPs), providing a consistent user experience across every Canon device. “This agreement is an exciting extension of what has been a successful relationship between Canon and eCopy,” says Sean Suematsu, European New Business Solutions Marketing Director, DIMS, Canon Europe. “ScanFront 220e offers corporates and SMEs the ability to scan and manage their paper documents across all areas of their business through the provision of eCopy’s easy-to-use and feature-rich document imaging software platform.” eCopy’s ShareScan Essentials document imaging software is expandable, with plug-in application connectors to integrate with popular business applications and services including document management systems, e-mail, and fax servers. The Canon ScanFront 220e will initially be available with optional eCopy Connectors for Captaris RightFax, Microsoft SharePoint and eCopy Quick Connect to connect to any database or workflow application. ScanFront is a compact, easy-to-use, and secure network scanner that provides high-quality scanning of up to of 26 pages per minute. Its sleek design includes a colour touch-screen and customisable one-touch job buttons for simple operation, easy setup and remote management. With ScanFront 220e, Canon customers can capture paper documents securely and distribute them as PDF files, improving group access to information. Users can scan to e-mail, fax, network folders and eCopy Desktop™ - PC software that helps individuals work faster and more efficiently with scanned documents as PDF files. Users can e-mail scanned documents via Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes, accessing personal address books and global address lists at the ScanFront device. ScanFront 220eP also includes fingerprint authentication capabilities to ensure security and integrity of scanned documents, while activity logging provides a complete audit trail. “Expanding our Canon partnership is strategic to eCopy as we launch an initiative to target aggressively both the OEM business and rapidly growing network scanner market,” said Edward Schmid, President and CEO of eCopy. “We have already seen tremendous interest from our existing channels for the ScanFront device as they look to help customers connect paper-based information with business applications to boost productivity.” Canon’s ScanFront 220e device will be available across Europe from Q3 2008.
