Canon’s new iW360 software delivers true collaboration for SMEs and corporate workgroups

  • Canon’s new document management software, iW360 v2.0, offers remote collaboration for increased office productivity

  • iW360 v2.0 features five leading document-based applications from Canon for SMEs and corporate workgroups

AMSTELVEEN, April 18, 2008 – Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, has today launched a new version of its document management solutions suite that will enable SMEs and office workgroups to collaborate more effectively on the documents they work with each day.

iW360 version 2.0 not only enables workgroups to archive, locate, collate, edit and publish documents in a range of different formats, it allows users to share documents and data within their organisation or workgroup remotely, through an optional Web Server iW Document Manager (iWDM) feature.

Adam Gillbe, European Solutions Marketing Manager, Canon Europe, said: “Office workers are under constant pressure to be more productive. Not only do they need to access the information in important documents, in a wide range of formats, they need to be able to share this information with their colleagues. iW360 v2.0 enables office workers to work smarter, through effective document management and true collaboration.”

iW360 v2.0 enables users to manage, share and output electronic documents more efficiently than ever before – saving time and money.

Users can now capture documents directly into the iW Document Manager workspace tool from their Canon multifunctional printer (MFP). Captured documents are also automatically indexed, enabling users to search and find business-critical data quickly and easily.

Businesses can also program specific processes at the point of capture. For example, documents can be scanned, filed and distributed to a specified destination at the touch of a single button. Automating common processes with iW Function Flow (iWFF) not only enables users to work more efficiently, it also ensures documents are managed and recorded correctly, which is of particular importance in finance, sales and HR environments.

iW360 v2.0 is the newest addition to Canon’s broad portfolio of powerful solutions that enable its business customers to reduce costs, and improve both productivity and efficiency through effective document management.

Adam Gillbe continues, “Office rage and worker frustration is a serious issue facing European business. In a survey of nearly 2,000 office workers across Europe, Canon discovered that 95 percent of European workers admitted feeling angry at work.

“Office workers crave simplicity when it comes to dealing with information and technology. 20 percent of European workers were angered by the time taken to look for and retrieve documents on the company’s network. By implementing solutions like Canon’s iW360, which offers five leading document-based applications from Canon, businesses can enable employees to manage their information, printing and imaging more effectively and reach their productive potential.”

iW360 v2.0 will be available throughout Europe from May 1st, 2008.
