AMSTELVEEN, September 6th, 2007 – Canon Europe, leader in digital imaging technology, has today announced the launch of two new A4 colour network scanners, ScanFront 220 and ScanFront 220P, which supports Canon’s commitment to the office workgroup and departmental sector. The network document scanners connect directly to a company’s network, without the need for additional hardware or software applications, therefore allowing employees to work together better. Aimed at workgroups within the corporate and SME office environments, the ultra compact scanners enable office employees to transfer scanned, digital data straight onto a company’s network.

ScanFront 220, Canon’s standard offering and ScanFront 220P, its professional offering, have speeds of up to 26 pages per minute (ppm) and 52 images per minute (ipm). They allow users to scan and send images directly
to personal and shared folders, FTP sites, USB devices and to email – all of which can be used simultaneously. Additionally, through ScanFront’s scan-to-email function, users can also access their personal and global address books through Lightweight
Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) – tasks that can rapidly increase productivity within organisations. Canon’s launch of ScanFront 220 meets the growing demand in the workgroup segment for document scanning devices within corporates and SMEs. In the document scanner market, which is expected to grow by 14% from 2007 to
2011, the network scanner market is set for 46% growth from 2007 to 2011. The workgroup category has become the largest with an expected growth of 15% from 2007 to 2011. rotate and browse them on the screen, to ensure picture perfection prior to sending. The network scanners also possess superior document imaging capabilities to simplify scanning tasks. The sheet-fed scanners, which also support business card and embossed card scanning, can scan a batch of mix-sized
documents and come with a host of features, including; Auto Size Detection, automatic Deskew and Skip Blank Page to facilitate the scanning of mixed-batch jobs. In addition, ScanFront 220P comes with Ultra Sonic Double Feed Detection and an
inbuilt fingerprint-authentication feature. Alongside ease of use, and increased productivity, the ScanFront network scanners offer a range of security features. Each user has a log-in and password to access the scanner and there is also pdf encryption. For the
professional model, there is also fingerprint authentication. Furthermore, the devices, designed for easy administration and configuration, permit IT Managers and systems administrators to apply different levels of access to those using them. Another
security benefit for IT Managers and systems administrators is that they can remotely register individual users to the machine, meaning they can securely manage an entire fleet of ScanFronts. The Canon ScanFront 220 and 220P are available across Europe.
