AMSTELVEEN, March 9, 2009 – Canon Europe, world leader in imaging solutions, has today announced the launch of the Canon imageFORMULA CR-180II cheque scanner. Following the success of the Canon CR-180, the new Canon imageFORMULA CR-180II offers enhanced image processing and integration, ensuring accurate capturing and management of cheques for the banking and financial markets.

The Canon imageFORMULA CR-180II is easy to set-up and use, and has an optional updated software development kit that enables the scanner to be seamlessly integrated into any customer application. The scanner now also features Deskew and Black Border Removal to deliver outstanding image quality and help users to easily record cheque data without the need to adjust images after scanning.

The high-speed Canon imageFORMULA CR-180II reduces processing time and increases productivity with its easy-to-use paper eject function. At speeds of up to 180 cheques per-minute in black-and-white and greyscale, it is one of the fastest compact cheque scanners on the market. It boasts the capacity to load up to 200 documents at one time, with a document feeder that is designed to handle batch scanning smoothly and reliably. Users can also adjust the feed mechanism to accommodate different thicknesses of documents.

Accuracy is paramount for the cheque scanner market. As well as reading the magnetic ink character recognition (MIRC) strip from the cheque the Canon imageFORMULA CR180II is able to simultaneously process the data using OCR software.

The new Canon imageFORMULA CR-180II software will also be made available to existing CR-180 users, allowing them to upgrade their current model.

The Canon imageFORMULA CR-180II launches in Europe from 1st April, 2009.
