Canon launches new range of production scanners – Canon imageFORMULA DR-6050C, DR-7550C and DR-9050C Developments based on customer feedback with higher speeds, improved ergonomic design and energy efficiency as key features Canon to reinforce market-leading position in the European Low Volume Production scanner segment
The Canon imageFORMULA DR-9050C and Canon imageFORMULA DR-7550C are successor models to the popular Canon imageFORMULA DR-9080C and Canon imageFORMULA DR-7580 scanners – with the Canon imageFORMULA DR-6050C introduced as a completely new entry into the Low Volume Production scanner segment. The new, user-friendly production scanners offer several key technology developments based on customer feedback on previous models. Canon’s latest range continues to adopt a fully operator-focused design, featuring a unique front-end feeding and output scanning function – something customers rated positively in feedback on other models. Combined with lower positioning of the operator control panel, the ergonomic design allows operators to comfortably load, feed and remove documents from the same seated position – maximising job productivity and minimising worker fatigue. The devices are fully compliant with new Energy Star Standards that will be introduced in July 2009, using 20% less energy compared to previous models and up to 60% less than key competitor devices. Sean Suematsu, European Document Scanning Solutions Director, Canon Europe says, “Organisations need to look at ways to streamline processes with the aim of ultimately reducing expenditure. By improving document management systems and business processes, these organisations will in turn see the benefits of enhanced productivity and most importantly, achieve much needed cost savings.” All three devices offer high speed scanning capabilities, delivering up to 112 pages per minute at resolutions of 300dpi, which make them amongst the most productive scanners in the Low Volume Production Scanner segment. A technology processing chip has also been incorporated to ensure peak scanning performance can be achieved even with various timesaving and image quality features activated, such as Auto Size Detection, and De-Skew functionality. For increased productivity, Canon’s new production scanners all include large capacity and versatile document feeders that can seamlessly feed large batches and automatically separate a wide range of document thicknesses and sizes. The devices are ideally suited to paper intensive environments that are frequently found in the Financial, Healthcare, Government, Transportation and Service Bureau industries. Long document scanning is also supported for materials up to three metres in length, such as electrocardiograms common in Healthcare markets. In addition, the Folio Mode setting allows scanning of documents up to A1 size, positioning this type of scanner uniquely in the market for its wide paper range scanning capability. “Canon has been a leading manufacturer of Low Volume Production scanners with a market share of more than 40% over the past few years” continues Sean Suematsu. “We are always looking to broaden and improve our scanning portfolio and with the launch of this range of highly versatile Canon imageFORMULA Scanners we expect to see particular growth in key markets that require robust, high speed and energy efficient scanning.” The Canon imageFORMULA DR-6050C, Canon imageFORMULA DR-7550C and Canon imageFORMULA DR-9050C will be available across Europe from 1st May 2009.
