SMEs able to control costs and multifunctional printer (MFP) access with Canon Security and Cost Control Pack ‘My Print Anywhere’ tool enables users to print and collect documents from any networked multifunctional printer with the package installed, using simple user authentication New out–of–the-box solution is cost-effective and easy to install and operate
Smaller organisations can now affordably achieve a level of document control which is commonplace in large corporations. By installing the software directly on the print device rather than requiring a print server, there is no outgoing fee related to buying and maintaining a server. Organisations can also improve cost-recovery by giving administrators visibility over how the device has been used and by whom. This ensures that device expenditure can be monitored via a web-browser or email reports to tackle areas for improvement. Canon has launched its Security and Cost Control Pack to empower SMEs with increased device functionality on Canon MFPs. The pack will be available as an add-on for new customers and can also be provided as an upgrade for existing customers. This enables organisations that have up to five MFPs to benefit from the enhanced visibility of costs and added document security. In the current economic climate businesses need to take stringent control over costs. A principle feature of the Canon Security and Cost Control Pack is that it can help organisations reduce imaging costs across the entire company. Canon’s software provides a solution for companies to manage print, fax and copy costs, highlighting where money is spent and also ensuring that users authenticate themselves at MFPs to avoid unnecessary print jobs, putting an end to printouts being left in the tray.
Adam Gillbe, Office Solutions Marketing Manager, Canon Europe says, “Now more than ever, organisations are looking at ways to cut down on unnecessary print jobs and ensure tight cost management – while keeping their information secure. The Canon Security and Cost Control Pack empowers businesses to effectively manage their office costs and print security.” Canon’s Security and Cost Control pack also enables small and medium sized businesses to cost-effectively increase security around print. As a serverless system, the ‘My Print Anywhere’ tool enables users to print and collect documents from any networked MFP where the package has been installed. This helps staff to be more flexible in their printing as well as providing additional document security by ensuring that only the authorised user can activate and collect the documents at the device. User authentication can be achieved in a number of ways, including PIN number entry or by employing ID cards for users to activate the device. Adam Gillbe continues, “Canon continues to invest in its innovative portfolio of office solutions by embedding a high level of functionality on its devices. The introduction of the Canon Security and Cost Control Pack will allow smaller companies to benefit from enhanced security and accounting tools that have been employed by large corporate organisations for many years.” The Canon Security and Cost Control Pack is targeted at SME and departmental environments of up to five MFP devices and up to 50 users, and will be available across Europe from 1st May 2009.
