Event showcases the success of Canon’s developer programme to date – over 100,000 MEAP applications deployed to customers since its launch in 2005 Canon outlines commitment to deliver open platform integration tools to help further support the developer community and its vision to support future technologies
Over 50 delegates attended the event where they were able to network with Canon engineers, view demonstrations from other developers and discuss future technologies. Canon outlined its commitment to deliver open platform tools and encourage closer integration with its imageFORMULA and imageRUNNER products, to address customers’ evolving needs. Speaking after the event, Johan Krap, Technical Consultant at Avnet Technology Solutions, a Canon Partner, said: “It was a great opportunity to be able to speak with other developers and see what they are creating in the Document Management Technology market. I was inspired by what other possibilities there are with different Canon Software Development Kits, which ultimately helps us to make more informed decisions when it comes to addressing the needs of our customers.” More than 100,000 MEAP applications have been deployed to customers since its launch in 2005. Next Print Solutions developed a solution using the MEAP Web SDK technology which allows smart phone printing to imageRUNNER Advance devices. MEAP Web, with its fast ROI, enables Canon’s Advanced Solutions partners to quickly and easily develop value added applications in line with customer demand. Earlier this year Canon launched a software development kit (SDK) for their market leading ScanFront 300/P Network Scanners, providing the tools for DRIVVE Inc to integrate their document workflow solution DRIVVE|image, which enables businesses to further streamline their document capturing processes to help automate business workflows. Cesar Perez, European Professional Services Director: “The conference reinforces Canon’s shifting focus from products to services and demonstrates our on-going will to establish a permanent developer community in Europe and maintain closer collaboration with our partners. Our customers are increasingly looking for value-added services to help their business, and this provides a big opportunity for developers.” Sean Suematsu, European Document Scanning Solutions Director, Canon Europe: “By working with Canon, developers can benefit from collaborating with one vendor with a complete portfolio for document management input and output, allowing them to capitalise on cross market opportunities from document scanners to MFDs. Creating opportunities for partners to capitalise on growing areas such as cloud computing, is an on-going commitment for us at Canon.” Canon’s Developer & System Integrator Conference builds on Canon’s existing Business Solutions Developer Programme, which supports a community of several thousand service providers on integration and development with Canon business imaging products across EMEA.
