eCopy ShareScan 5 enhances digital workflows, automatically extracting and utilising information contained within paper documents and forms Canon offers the widest range of hardware to implement and support eCopy ShareScan including its leading imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform Canon confirms its position as eCopy’s lead-partner and supplier in European markets
The eCopy ShareScan Suite is the first MFD scanning solution to include forms processing as a standard feature. It automatically identifies and extracts specific data from paper forms, such as invoices for the finance department or job applications for the HR team, into Microsoft Excel and other business and accounting applications. Office workers can also instantly convert paper documents into searchable PDF, as well as fully-formatted and editable Word and Excel documents. This means office workers no longer need to manually create new electronic documents or extract information from hardcopy originals. “When combined with Canon’s hardware including its next-generation imageRUNNER ADVANCE MFD platform, eCopy ShareScan 5 provides a powerful yet versatile platform for document scanning and process automation that helps to drive paper out of business processes,” says Paul Rowntree, European Product Sales Marketing Director, Canon Europe. “Together, Canon and Nuance are giving frontline office workers advanced tools that have only previously been found in centralised capture software systems used by production capture specialists.” “Canon was first to provide the MFP environment needed to enable innovative products such as eCopy, and was first to build a robust solutions business with eCopy ShareScan,” said Robert Weideman, General Manager at Nuance, Document Imaging Division. “Canon continues to drive innovations and solutions, with many of the features and capabilities within eCopy ShareScan 5 developed specifically to meet the needs of Canon customers and partners. The combination of Canon and eCopy 5 is a dramatic advance and a huge opportunity for Canon customers.” The enhanced eCopy document scanning and workflow solution connects the MFD’s scanning function directly with customers’ back-end systems. This can include enterprise content management systems and key horizontal and vertical business applications and processes such as the opening of customer accounts for the banking or telecoms industries. It provides the most extensive connection between MFD scanning and enterprise applications to date, with a variety of powerful application connectors including Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Oracle and Therefore™. The eCopy product suite is completely scalable, providing a variety of solutions to match the needs of organisations of all sizes. Large corporate enterprises, for example, will benefit from a licensing control system that makes it easy than previous versions to roll-out the eCopy solution across the business. It is quick and simple to install, configure and use with out of the box functionality including predetermined settings, and an intuitive touch-screen interface. Paul Rowntree continued, “eCopy ShareScan 5 enables frontline office workers to be more productive by automating document processes, saving valuable time on the management of paper documents. It also enables them to utilise information better and more intelligently within the business.” “No other manufacturer sells more eCopy products than Canon, meaning that we are in the strongest position to supply and support eCopy across Europe. Our customers were the first to see the latest version at Canon Expo 2010, well ahead of its official launch. Our investment in training our sales and support teams over the years means that Canon is the natural choice for European organisations that are keen to cut costs and boost productivity by handling and managing the information contained within paper documents more intelligently.” eCopy ShareScan 5 will be available to Canon’s European customers from November 30, 2010.
