Presenting its leading input and output technologies, Canon is uniquely positioned to present a series of complete shoot-to-print workflow solutions comprising the very latest in image capture, processing, display and print capabilities. Through the integration of its standard and large format printers, Canon will also demonstrate a range of live photobook and poster applications that offer profitable new business opportunities. In addition, onsite studio demonstrations will provide photographers with advice on how to take greater control of their own imaging output. Complementing its complete range of photographic equipment, Canon will showcase its latest large format imagePROGRAF printers including the iPF8300, which has a maximum print width of 44 inches, the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) award-winning iPF6350 and the iPF6300, both of which print up to 24 inches. Developed in response to the demand for high quality output in the professional photographic and fine art markets, the new imagePROGRAF systems offer superior colour reproduction. All models include a 12-colour LUCIA EX pigment ink system, enabling a 20% wider colour gamut to produce denser, sharper blacks, smoother colour graduations and the finest shadow details. Visitors will also see the imagePROGRAF iPF5100. With a maximum print width of 17 inches, the iPF5100 affords users the ability to create striking, full-bleed colour output with exceptional paper handling capabilities at high speeds. Throughout the exhibition, Canon will be presenting a series of live photographic and output demonstrations from its on-site studio as well as a range of value-added print applications such as large format photo books and posters. All applications are designed to integrate easily to add a range of value-added revenue streams to the photographer’s overall customer offering. Freelance photographer Jörg Kyas will be on hand during the show to demonstrate his expertise and share tips on how to maximise the potential of the latest Canon EOS digital SLR cameras by linking to Canon’s large format output devices. There will also be demonstrations on how digital images can be simply transferred to a workstation for in-house image manipulation and colour management, before being sent to an imagePROGRAF iPF6300 for output. Several of Canon’s imagePROGRAF large format printers come with PosterArtist, a free software bundle offering pre-set poster templates offering further opportunities for photographers to introduce new revenue potential. By simply inserting their own images into the templates and adding text, photographers can create and print their own professionally designed posters. Also on display will be Canon’s imagePRESS C1+. This print device features a special clear toner that applies coatings to control gloss levels, as well as producing spot varnishes and metallic effects. This enables photographers to create a professional print finish without outsourcing to a specialist reproduction company. The printer’s ease of integration into third party workflows will also be demonstrated using a photobook application that delivers professional quality A4 and A3 finished books. “By simply introducing print solutions into their existing input technology, there is huge potential for photographers to expand their business offering and generate exciting new revenue streams,” says Shane Burchett, European Marketing Professional for Large Format Solutions, Canon Europe. “With our state of the art image-capture to image-output workflow solutions on show at Photokina, visitors to our stand will see just how simple it is to take control of their own output and create profitable opportunities for business expansion.”
