Nomination for ‘Consumer Installation of the Year’
Canon has been nominated for the ‘Consumer Installation of the Year’ award for an installation at London’s first interactive restaurant, inamo St James. Over 90 XEED projectors were installed as part of inamo’s proprietary E-Table™ solution. This groundbreaking solution allows diners to order food, choose a digital tablecloth, watch live footage of the kitchen via a ‘chef cam’, select drinks and even order a taxi home, all through an interactive menu that is projected onto the table. The E-Table solution houses a Canon projector (the most appropriate model for each table’s position within the restaurant) and a computer within a specially built ‘pod’ housed in the ceiling above each table. Mark Boyle, Sales Director at Compurants, the company behind the E-Table, said: “We have a really good working relationship with Canon. Designing E-Table was an ambitious project, which hadn’t been tried anywhere before, and Canon’s technology was fundamental to our successful launch. In two years of almost constant use, our ordering system has been incredibly reliable and robust.” A video of the ground-breaking interactive food ordering system at inamo St James, including a product demonstration, can be viewed online at: http://vzaar.com/videos/767053 Nomination for ‘Live Event of the Year’
Canon has been nominated for the ‘Live Event of the Year’ award for its unique Immersive Dome Experience at Canon EXPO 2010 and ISE 2010. Ten XEED projectors were used to create a unique, visually stunning experience that immersed visitors in a virtual trip to Paris, Tokyo and New York, within a nine metre diameter dome. The project formed the spectacular centrepiece of the Projection Display Zone at Canon EXPO and showcased Canon projection solutions by pushing the boundaries of what could be achieved with XEED projectors. Integrating projectors within a curved dome display on this scale has never been done before and was an enormous undertaking. Canon used its optical design and manufacturing heritage to create a uniquely powerful immersive experience. About the AV Awards 2011
