Easy- to-use software allows users to make professional albums from home, which are then sent to local printer Software enables complete Photo Print workflow visibility from product creation through to production Online photo album drives revenues from the home to the print shop Printers set to benefit from Canon’s value-added service designed to capitalise on booming photo print services market
In 2007 the photobook market grew 100% to €409 million and it is expected to reach €977 million by 2011*. Printers are looking to capture a share of this market by offering consumers the ability to create designs and prints that add emotional value to their digital images. The TAOPIX software complements Canon’s existing Photo Print Products and Solutions by allowing commercial, print-for-pay printers and professional photographers to generate extra profit through value added services. Print providers can buy the TAOPIX package to allow them to provide a complete bespoke, branded service to clients. This includes TAOPIX Design, a template that end-users can download and install on their home Mac or PCs so they can create their own album interfaces; TAOPIX Web, a package to facilitate ordering and payment online or at the print shop; and TAOPIX Production, which enables print providers to create job tickets, PDFs, print, finish and despatch. James Gray, Managing Director of Transeo Media said: “TAOPIX has been designed to maximise the benefits by giving print shops the full flexibility and control over their own business model. They don't need to come back to us to launch or update the front-end and back-end office functions. When combined with auto-updates, branding shop fronts and launching or enhancing new products it becomes a seamless process for the customer, whereby they can build new products themselves. Additionally, we have incorporated a unique user licence, so the print project and revenue are guaranteed to the print shop where TAOPIX was accessed." The photo album software is aimed at professional photographers, holiday companies, schools and colleges, sports groups, and for general consumers. Easy to use drag-and-drop software allows customers to create multiple page albums, with professional effects, in minutes from their own desktop anywhere in the world. The customers can place images exactly where they want and experiment with different borders, fonts and cover designs by changing one of the many pre-made inbuilt templates. Once happy with their previewed design and after quantities are chosen, files are uploaded to the professional print shop’s servers, ready to print in PDF format. Mark Lawn, Canon European Marketing Manager, said: “The booming digital imaging and photo print services markets are opening up significant opportunities for printers to diversify and capitalise on the demand for personalised photo products. TAOPIX is exactly the kind of solution print shops need as it provides them with a genuine competitive advantage. Canon is committed to providing solutions that add value to existing digital imaging services, helping printers along the Path to Profit by tapping into new revenue streams.”
