The iF product design award is one of the world’s oldest, best-known design competitions and is judged by a high profile international panel of design and manufacturing experts. This year the competition received 2,756 entries this year from 43 countries. Products are evaluated in 16 categories and the X Mark 1 was successful in the office and business section.

The X Mark 1’s display is recycled, using plastic left-over during the construction of prisms from Canon’s digital cameras. Further reducing its environmental impact and energy consumption, the X Mark 1 was also Canon’s first business calculator to work by solar power alone, without the need for back-up batteries.
