PARIS, 12 October 2010 – Canon, world leader in imaging solutions, is entering an emerging European enterprise information and media management market predicted to be worth $9.6bn annually, with a newly launched Consultancy Services business. The new business is focused on delivering to large European organisations a framework to overcome the challenges faced when managing information and media across multiple channels.
Consultancy Services is marketing an evolving set of propositions that will be tailored to individual client needs, designed to maximise any investment returns through operational, marketing and process improvements. An example of this could be to enhance customer experience in a retail bank by streamlining customer facing processes, resulting in halving the time taken to open new accounts.
As part of an initial four-year contract, Canon will collaborate with Accenture’s sales and consulting capabilities and resources to help build Consultancy Services. This new organisation will draw on Canon’s expertise and heritage in information & imaging solutions in business and consumer markets and Accenture’s leading business management consulting services.
The new business will have a dedicated core team and is expected to grow to 500 people. It will also leverage significant skills and expertise through a delivery network across Europe made up of Canon’s service and support infrastructure, Accenture’s consulting specialists and drawing on other business partners where required.
Gary Horsfall, Head of Consultancy Services, Canon Europe comments, “One of the biggest challenges faced by European organisations today is the management of their information, imaging and media assets. Through our collaboration with Accenture, we will create a series of propositions delivering customised solutions for large European organisations to manage this challenge. The launch of Consultancy Services is further evidence of Canon’s transition towards a service-led organisation, which is a key strategy in supporting our continued growth in Europe.”
In order to bring a portfolio of consultancy services to market, Consultancy Services will build a network of companies that are best able to solve specific customer challenges across a broad range of vertical markets. Canon will continue to look at strategic acquisitions of niche suppliers that add value to the overall proposition, and which fit within Canon’s overall business strategy and corporate philosophy.
“Canon Consultancy Services is addressing a very innovative and exciting new information and media management market,” said Mattias Lewren, Managing Director, Accenture. “The combination of resources from Canon and our ability to help develop reusable and scalable services will provide Canon Consultancy Services with a strong platform that will benefit customers across Europe.”
