Detailed Features

X-tremely fast auto focus and up to 3 fps shooting speed combine to make the EOS 300X a super responsive camera-of-choice for photography enthusiasts moving into modern SLR. Designed to put the photographer in complete control, this feature-rich camera is compatible with over 60 EF lenses and all Speedlite flash units.

Fast focus

With the touch of a button , auto focus can switch between One-Shot AF (for static objects), AI Servo AF (tracking moving subjects) and AF/AI Focus AF (automatic switching between modes). 7-point wide area auto focus ensures rapid focus, even with non-centered subjects. AF Points are selectable with an easy cross selection key, their position superimposed in the viewfinder for simple navigation. Shutter speed ranges from 30 sec to 1/4000th sec.

Look and feel

The ergonomically designed body acts like an extension of the right hand, with all key controls falling under the finger tips and a comfortable rubber skin covering the grip for secure, single-hand operation. A luxuriant dark metallic finish completes a camera that looks as good as it performs. View all key camera settings at a glance on the large illuminated LCD.

E-TTL II

The camera’s E-TTL II metering system delivers high precision and stable exposures with both the built-in flash and external Speedlites. Distance information passed from the camera eliminates errors caused by subject reflections, and composition can be altered while maintaining correct exposure. Readings from highly reflective objects are ignored, giving a truer white to objects such as china and wedding dresses.

Built in flash

The powerful built-in retractable flash has a guide number of 13 and covers lenses as wide as 28mm. When in use, the flash head extends high above the lens to eliminate lens shadow and reduce unnatural shadows formed behind subjects. Flash synchronises at 1/125th sec.

Metering

35-Zone evaluative metering delivers consistently accurate exposures, ignoring particularly bright zones for balanced exposures in difficult lighting. Exposure modes include Program (P), Shutter-priority (Tv), Aperture-priority (Av), Manual (M) and Auto depth of field (A-Dep). Six PIC program modes include Portrait, Landscape, Close-up, Sports, and Night Portrait. Users can use six custom functions to establish favourite settings.
