DIGIC DV II

DIGIC DV II is our second generation processor, developed specifically for the demanding requirements of HD recording. Evolved by Canon engineers from the original DIGIC DV processor, it handles the large amounts of data needed for HD imaging at super-fast speeds: High Definition movies require nearly 4x more information than is used for Standard Definition (SD) video, so much more processing power is required.

DIGIC DV II also incorporates sophisticated hybrid noise reduction technology and can reproduce twice as many colours as DIGIC DV, leading to sharper, cleaner video and photos with deeper, more vibrant colour. These benefits have also been extended to Canon’s Standard Definition camcorder range – some SD models now also include DIGIC DV II.
