Vandal-Resistant Design
The VB-C500VD is equipped with Canon’s unique vandal-resistant construction. The exterior housing is made of alloyed aluminium, while the strong polycarbonate dome is impact resistant. The camera mechanism floats on four built-in springs, which act as shock absorbers in the event of an impact.
Wide-Angle 2.4x Zoom Lens
With an ultra-wide 82° horizontal field of view and a 2.4x optical zoom, the VB-C500VD is ideal for every monitoring need. The wide-angle lens makes the camera perfect for narrow spaces like corridors, while the 2.4x zoom is useful for open areas such as large offices.
MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG video
With support for MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG video formats, the VB-C500VD can deliver high-quality VGA resolution video. Footage can be distributed to up to 30 simultaneous clients (max 10 clients with MPEG-4).
Progressive Scan
For a sharper view of moving subjects, the progressive scan CCD image sensor minimises the ‘comb’ effect often seen in interlaced video. The camera can deliver up to 30fps, subject to the available network bandwidth.
On-Screen Display
The VB-C500VD can overlay the date, time, camera name or any custom text (up to 15 characters) on top of the video. To ensure clear visibility of the information, the position of the text, character colour and outline colour can be easily changed.
Continuous Monitoring - Day and Night
With the help of DIGIC NET processing, the VB-C500VD can operate in a wide range of lighting conditions. Colour imaging is supported even in low light, down to 0.2 lux. Digital Night Mode increases the sensitivity to provide a clear monochrome image.
Power over Ethernet (PoE)
The VB-C500VD can be powered by the same Ethernet cable that is used to transfer data, without the need for a separate power source. This enables the camera to be installed without the hassle and expense of a separate mains power supply.
Two-way Audio
The VB-C500VD can transmit and receive full-duplex audio from the camera site. A microphone and active speaker can be connected via an optional interface cable, so live audio can be received from the camera, or a warning relayed to potential intruders.
Bundled VK-Lite Network Video Recording Software
The VB-C500VD comes bundled with Canon’s ‘VK-Lite’ Video Recording software, supporting up to four cameras. The camera is supplied with everything you need to start recording, straight out of the box.
