FAQ: My SmartBase™ will not scan original documents.

Helpful Information:

Solution:

MODELS: SMARTBASE™ PC1210D / PC1230D / PC1270D

If the machine will not scan but you can hear the mechanism trying to move, it is most likely that you have not removed the retaining screw used during transportation.

This is a large black screw located above the paper exit tray next to the silver label. This is used during transportation to stop the scanning mechanism from being damaged if moved.

After removing this screw do not discard, as you should use this whenever the machine is moved. You can store this under the printer cover where the cartridge is installed. Release and slide the copyboard (top of the machine) to expose the printer cover; this can be done by lifting the release tab indicated with the picture of a hand on the left hand side of the machine. Lift the printer cover and the screw can be stored at the front on the right hand side. This printer cover will need to be closed and the copyboard returned to resume operation of the machine.
