Canon Europe unveils the next generation of DR Scanners with the introduction of the new high speedDR-6080 and DR-9080C, suitable to an increasingly wider range of business users.

The devices combine high speed, high quality scanning with a large A3 ability and, through the DR-9080C, 24-bit colour support. These attributes make them applicable to engineering, town planning, governmental institutions and financial organisations and are also appropriate for corporate environments.

Mr. Sean Suematsu, marketing manager, Document and Image Management Systems Division, Canon Europe stated:

"The DR-6080 and DR-9080C have traditionally catered for professional low production categories, but now, through innovative technologies such as multistream for managing multiple images, they also cater for intensive business environments, where a high scanning speed and high durability are demanded."

He added: “NewISIS/TWAIN™ driver functions combined with new software, CapturePerfect 2.0, provide the versatility, high image quality and ease of use that is essential to these markets.”

The scanning speed of the DR-9080C reaches right up to 90 ppm in B&W/greyscale mode and 50 ppm in colour mode, while the DR-6080 achieves 60 ppm in B&W/greyscale mode (A4 portrait, 200 dpi). Both offer a high image output resolution of up to 600 x 600 dpi, with a ‘smoothing’ function to reduce the moiré effect, alongside advanced text enhancement. Plus Canon’s renowned reliable document feeding ensures optimum uptime.

MultiStream™ technology allows these scanners to generate multiple image outputs in a variety of combinations, after a single scan.  An example of a combination could be: saving a colour image for archiving and a B&W image for OCR.  Double feed detection, using ultrasonic signals, warns users if 2 pages have been fed together. There is also simple staple detection for document feeding, which automatically stops the scanning process.

Canon’s original roller system provides highly reliable scanning. While enhancements in document feeding include reduction in noise and improvements to the document feed and eject trays. Both models feature a compact design, user-friendly operation with a simplified control panel and a standardISIS/TWAIN™driver. The scanning durability is 6 million scans or a 5-year lifetime.

A range of additional options are available, including an imprinter, endorser, hard counter and a barcode module for automatic indexing. With the DR-6080 and DR-9080C, Canon is ready to provide maximum productivity for low and mid volume production scanning.
