Once the photosensitive drum is charged, the static electricity enables laser beams to scan the surface of the drum in order to 'draw' letters or images depending on the document sent to print. This exposure process can either be done via a 'Copy Mode' or 'Extend Mode'. In the Copy mode process, the document is scanned using a CCD in your machine through exposure to light, as highlighted in the diagram above. This then converts into image
data and is sent through the image processing system. The Extend mode is where PC and fax data is converted into image data and sent through the image processing system.
