Why can't I control the digital camcorder of my contact?

Check to make sure that a Canon digital camcorder is correctly connected to the computer of your contact.

 

Check to make sure that the firewall is disabled on your computer and on the computer of your contact. For details, please consult Microsoft.

 

If a computer has anti-virus software installed, This software may also have its own firewall. If you are using anti-virus software, you need to disable its firewall as well. For details, see the user documentation that comes with the anti-virus software.

 

When used in the CAMERA mode, certain digital camcorder models may switch automatically to the demonstration mode if no operation is performed for a specific amount of time. In this mode, control is not possible from a computer. If this happens, performing a zoom operation on the digital camcorder returns it to the normal mode or ask your contact to swich-off the DEMO mode via the camcorder menu.

Why can't I control the other party's digital video camera?

Check that the Canon digital video camera is connected correctly to the other party's computer.

 

Check that the other party has granted you permission to control his or her camera.

 

When using the digital video camera in camera mode, some models may switch to demonstration mode if the camera is not used for a certain period of time. In this mode, the camera cannot be controlled from the computer.  In this case, you can return to the normal mode by using the zoom operation on the digital video camera.

Why doesn't the video mode change after clicking the mode icons for Camera, Tape Playback, and Card?

If your video camera does not have a network mode, the modes do not change even when the icons are clicked. Use the switch on the video camera to change the modes.

 

The mode cannot be changed if your video camera is recording a still image while you try to change the mode. Wait until the image is recorded before changing the mode.

 

If a USB cable or DV cable is connected or disconnected while DV Messenger is running, the mode can no longer be changed. In this case, you need to restart Windows. If possible, avoid connecting and disconnecting cables while DV Messenger is running.
