Zebra

Information

The zebra is distinguished by its black and white stripes. There are several species of zebra, all of them located on the African continent. The most common species – the plains zebra – occurs mainly in savannah grasslands. Zebras tend to live in family groups of up to 17 animals, where there is usually one dominant male animal and several mares. During long periods of migration, families of zebra will slow their speed to allow the weaker members to keep pace. Although the plains zebra is not endangered, two other species, the mountain and the grevy zebra are threatened.
