Unlocking creativity at FESPA Digital 2016

Creative and cultural industries account for 4.2% of the European Union’s GDP and at FESPA Digital 2016, Canon used an on-stand design studio – The Art Hub – to demonstrate the potential of this growing sector to open up new application opportunities for wide format PSPs.

Speaking on the Canon stand, industry experts from across the creative sector shared their views on the potential of print in these exciting markets. An exhibition of work from professional photographer, designer and filmmaker Clive Booth was spread across advertising posters, printed and engraved acrylic table-tops, fine art prints and a photobook printed on the DreamLabo 5000, demonstrating how individual projects can benefit from output into multiple printed applications.

Visitors also saw a diverse range of applications produced on the Océ Arizona 1280 XT and Océ Arizona 1280 GT – from display graphics and interior décor through to packaging prototypes featuring textured effects produced using layers of ink and varnish. Also in action was the newly launched imagePROGRAF PRO series of large format professional inkjet printers, which meets growing requirements for high quality imaging, efficient media handling and high-volume output capabilities for photo, fine art and production environments.

The event also saw Canon launch Think Creative, a guide that focuses on the creative economy and explores the trends that are shaping its growth – from the revolutionising effects of digitisation through to customisation, personalisation, 3D printing and augmented reality. It highlights many different ways in which print service providers (PSPs) can tap into opportunities in the sector and how they can work together with their customers to unleash print’s potential to enable innovation.
