Editing your movie

Now you have lots of separate clips, it is important to bring these together to form a single movie. Editing movies can require a lot of computer processing power, particularly if you shoot in HD – the file sizes are very large. SD is perfect for your initial movie experiments and is easier to handle on a computer.

Canon’s camcorders are supplied with PIXELA ImageMixer™ which will handle all your movie editing needs. Drag titles, sound and transition effects onto the storyboard area, move them around and create a sequence. You can adjust the playback range (start and stop points) of a movie clip and set the transition type between one clip and the next (fade, wipe, etc.). Still images can be placed in the storyboard area and added to the movie, along with superimposed titles.

Try out what you’ve learnt and share it!
If you’ve bought a camcorder but have not experimented then set yourself a challenge. Go out and experiment with some movie clips. Then open up PIXELA ImageMixer™ on your computer and check out the editing features.

Once you’ve produced your video, you should share it. The CANON iMAGE GATEWAY Video Podcast is a simple way to let your friends and family see your latest footage.
