Canon also offers a range of solutions that are optimised specifically for UNIX, Linux, OS400, Citrix and SAP environments which enable customers to exploit more than basic functionality from their device. i.e. apply finishing options such as stapling or Booklet finishing or selecting a different paper source. This ensures Canon devices integrate seamlessly with customer environments including legacy systems.

UNIX Printing

SQue
Canon’s SQue is a powerful tool to create and manage printer queues for Canon devices on UNIX platforms. SQue enables a wide range of device functionality such as finishing options as well as mailbox, secured printing and departmental accounting. SQue supports all the major printing systems, including SystemV, LPR and CUPS. It is available for Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, SCO and IRIX systems. Additionally, it supports various Linux systems.
The configuration tool is able to set all the finishing options that are supported by a given printer. There are two versions of the configuration tool available – the graphical version operates within any X11 windowing environment, and the text version operates within a console environment.
SQue also integrates the mailbox, secured printing and depar tmental accounting features of Canon devices with the UNIX system. For each queue, an administrator may associate individual UNIX users with specific mailboxes, passwords or accounts on the device.

Canon recommends that SQue be used as the default product on all UNIX systems.

SQue is licenced per server or workstation, independent of the number of Canon devices connected to the network. A site licence is also available. Please consult your local Canon office for details. Trial versions (Printed output includes a watermark overlay) are available to download from the Canon support site.

Linux Printing

CQue
Canon’s CQue is a powerful tool to create and manage printer queues for Canon devices on Linux platforms. CQue enables a wide range of device functionality such as finishing options as well as mailbox, secured printing and departmental accounting. CQue integrates only with CUPS and is available for all major Linux distributions.

CQue contains a feature that integrates the mailbox, secured printing and departmental accounting features of Canon devices with the Linux system. For each queue, an administrator may associate individual Linux users with specific mailboxes, passwords or accounts on the device.

• Allows the creation of specific or dedicated printer queues giving access to all the features of the Canon device with just few mouse clicks.
• Create and use a single printer queue with different parameters.

For more recent versions of GTK+ advanced options are directly supported from the printer interface of most Linux applications.

Canon UFRII/UFRII-LT Driver for Linux

This driver enables printing in a Linux environment to any device supporting Canon’s proprietary UFRII/ UFRII-LT page description language.

The driver is designed to integrate with CUPS, and supports only Linux systems. This driver is recommended for those printers that are not supported by either CQue or SQue.

AS400 and iSeries Printing

The Canon OS400 Object Generator allow Canon printers to effortlessly connect to the AS400 and iSeries enabling some of the common supported printer features like Drawer selection, page size etc. It simplifies the creation of Workstation Customisation Objects for use with Host Print Transform (HPT) on AS400, iSeries, System i and now the Power Systems servers. With the use of simple menus, Customisation Objects for Canon printers can easily be created and integrated into the host print workflow.
This product does not support the full requirements for Intelligent Printer Data Stream (IPDS) printing. There are third party products available in the market that can be used to implement a IPDS solution with Canon printers.

Without a licence key, the Object Generator works as a free trial version. The product will be fully functional but it will produce a printout with an overlay on each of the printed pages. To convert this into a licensed version, the licence key number will need to be purchased.

The Canon OS400 Object Generator is chargeable software, consult your local Canon office for details, a trial version is downloadable from the Canon support site.

SAP Printing

SAP device types for Canon devices provides seamless integration with SAP environments and enables advanced printing functionality such as finishing capability and Barcode printing support.

Canon joined SAP’s Printer Vendor Program as a Gold Level participant in June 2009. SAP customers can download SAP-certified Canon device types directly from the SAP Support Portal as detailed in SAP Note 1135052 “Printer Vendor Wizard Note: CANON”.

SAP device types for legacy or older devices (launched pre-June 2009) remain on Canon support site.

Availability of Canon device types: all PCL/PS enabled i-SENSYS, imageRUNNER and iR-ADV models.

Fonts The supported fonts depend on the device level support and the device type.
For devices provided through SAP AG, the supported fonts are given in the “Printer Vendor Wizard Note: Canon” for the SAP certified device type. Depending on the device, this is Latin 1 (Western European) and Unicode format for Latin1, Cyrillic, Greek & Hebrew.
For the device types released through the Canon Software Download Centre, the font support is Latin 1 for Western European languages.
