Canon Europe Extends Range of Inline Finishing Solutions Through New Partnership with Plockmatic Group

DÜSSELDORF, 31 May 2016 – Canon Europe, world leader in imaging solutions, is broadening the range of inline finishing solutions it can deliver to production print customers through a new partnership with Swedish finishing solutions provider Plockmatic Group. The collaboration will enhance Canon Europe’s ability to support PSPs to develop a wider portfolio of high quality fully-finished products.

The partnership covers two Plockmatic devices – the BLM 50 and BLM 35 Production Booklet Makers - enabling Canon customers to produce stapled or square-fold booklets of up to 200 and 140 pages respectively, at rated engine speeds. Both models can handle coated, uncoated and textured stocks up to 350 gsm.

The first public presentation of Canon Europe and Plockmatic equipment in an end-to-end production solution will be on the Canon stand at drupa 2016 (Hall 8a, Stand B50), where the Canon imagePRESS C800 colour light production press will be demonstrated inline to a Plockmatic BLM50 delivering eye-catching booklets that showcase Plockmatic’s innovative finishing technology and the high quality printed output of the Canon imagePRESS C800.

The two Plockmatic solutions complement a range of existing own and third-party finishing options offered by Canon, which already include perfect binding, punching, folding, ring binding, booklet making and three-knife trimming. Both Plockmatic booklet makers will be commercially available to Canon customers from September 2016 and will initially be compatible with the Canon imagePRESS C800, C700, C10000VP and C8000VP presses.

Mark Lawn, Director, Professional Print Solutions, Canon Europe explains: “Listening to our customers, we identified the need for booklet making solutions that would complement the high quality output of the imagePRESS range and deliver a superbly finished product, working with a wide range of media. Beside the quality of finish, we also needed robust technology that would meet our customers’ need for a high level of reliability, flexibility and productivity, and Plockmatic’s products meet all these criteria. The company is a worldwide leader in finishing solutions and their expertise in this field will help us extend our customers’ capabilities.”

“This new partnership illustrates Canon’s firm commitment to continually expanding the range of finishing options compatible with our production print engines. In doing so, we increase our ability to devise tailored end-to-end solutions that empower print service providers to unleash the potential of their business, both by boosting overall productivity and by enabling them to offer their customers an enhanced portfolio of fully finished products.”

Scott Russell, Vice President at Plockmatic adds: “We’re proud to be working with the Canon team to extend their finishing offerings. The booklet format is a great way to tell a story, and now Canon customers can produce beautiful square folded booklets to match the image quality delivered from the imagePRESS range.”
